I’m Liam Patterson, an engineer working on trading infrastructure and networking for a high-frequency trading firm in Chicago, IL. I graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY with both a Masters of Engineering and a Bachelors of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2019 and 2020, respectively. I enjoy working at the boundary of hardware and software, with a specialization in all things technical infrastructure related, from cellular communications networks to the latest in container and virtual machine optimization.
My current research interests involve the rollout of 5G in the US, edge cloud solutions for increasing network scalability, and using private and public 5G networks to address the US’ digital divide. Beyond these, I’ve been known to dabble in a few other side projects.
In my free time, I travel and fly planes and take pictures (sometimes simultaneously - with autopilot enabled, of course); read more about those adventures on my blog. In the meantime, give me a shout out on guard on 121.5 MHz or find me at the platforms in the sidebar. Thanks!
